Now Playing Tracks

I started another character, the assassin due to all the skins, rare items, and heads that were unlocked through other characters.  When I opened up the character window to set up the Assassin I was blown away by the amount of unlocked skins.

My guilty pleasure is wasting virtual money at the slots.  Well, I was in for a surprise. Out of  approximately 200 hours of game-play I have NEVER gotten all Marcus symbols.  What do you get when you get the Marcus jackpot? Why a purple item!!! Purple items are hard to get at the early levels.

Although the Assassin is challenging to play, I get better drops for some odd reason.  I don’t recall getting this shield for other characters.  The capacity is low but the nova radius is 1808!!!   The Firehawk shield is perfect with my special because I do melee damage which leaves me vulnerable.  However, the shield will damage surrounding enemies while I recuperate.  Hells YEAH!

Currently I am at level 17 and halfway through the first play-through.

The skill tree for Gaige the Mechomancer is up on the Borderlands 2 site!!!! I already toyed around with the skill points to review the the damage. So far I’m really feelin’ the first two trees.  The middle tree has a lot of 1 skill point only so FYI if you are into maxing out trees.  You will have to max out skills that you don’t care for to progress down the tree.

Ultimately, I see a lot of possibilities for this character.  Speaking of which, ain’t it time for some BL2?

Once I got the hang of crafting I was able to make stronger weapons as well as glyphs and talismans.  tips:

  • weapon/talisman/glyph kits mostly from monster drops
  • base>imperfect>normal>pure>sacred = Quality of materials
  • disassemble anything and everything except starter gear
  • the shapes are quite simple to remember once you get the hang of it
  • offense and defense glyphs don’t go together

I decided to give this game a try since it was a demo through Steam.  This game has a massive learning curve.  The default controls take some getting use to.  The first time around I got pretty close to completing the mission.  However, I had no idea who to assassinate when the convoy drove by. The second attempt at the game I discovered that I had MORE than a sniper rifle! Besides the sniper rifle, there was a mid-range rifle as well as a pistol.

The movements were a bit sluggish since I’m not used to 3rd person shooters.  I’m more of a FPS player.

The Good: kill x-ray shots!

verdict? I’m not sure I would buy this game because I really wanted to check out co-op which was not offered through the demo.   Also, due to the movements I couldn’t play for too long because I felt slightly dizzy. Most likely it’s due to the 3rd person view.  The graphics are nice and I really enjoy the slow mo kill x-ray shots.

Australia Lightens Up. R18+ Rating Coming Soon

Australia is notorious for it’s prohibition of video games with adult themes. Hopefully by 2013, the whole of Australia will adopt this rating. If you’re not familiar with the issue, Australia has had a 15+ rating for quite some time. There was never a classification for games with gratuitous violence and/or sexual themes. As a result, these games needed to to be censored or would never see the light of day in the land down under.

This is the age old issue of whether or not games are made to be toys for children or entertainment for grown-ups. It’s been 3 years since Australia opened the flood gates for open debate on the topic of adult rated video games, but now it has finally come to fruition. The Australian Capital Territory will be the first region to test out the new rating. If this proves successful, the rest of Australia may adopt the R18+ rating by 2013.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Australia’s banning of mature video games, here’s a quick list of games that didn’t make the cut for the land down under.

  • Marc Ecko’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure
  • Left 4 Dead 2
  • Mortal Kombat (2011)
  • Syndicate
  • The Witcher 2

That’s just a sliver of games that have been forever shut down by the ratings board of Australia. But with an R18+ rating coming in the near future, hopefully this list of pretty damn good games will finally get to see the Australian games market.

I’m surprised L4D2 is on that list.

  • Modern setting
  • 3 Societies (Templar, Dragon, and Illuminati)

Watching the game play makes me want to play this game. Done and done it was added to my mental game list!
